True: The make-up industry is flooded with products that are curated to users’ unique skin tone and type and visual desires.
Where the accessibility stops though is in the tools used to apply makeup. After collecting user interviews in the beauty space, it was clear make-up tools needed innovation.

It always starts with the research.
klar stems from a collection of in-person interviews and observations of people in their daily lives, including estheticians and artists. Further research was conducted through a survey and deep analysis of products used by the target market
Defining the "who" meant hearing many perspectives.




The self care and make up industry is massive.
The next best step was to run ideas through the screening process to assess where a product is needed. The priority is to design a tool that wouldn't end up in a landfill a year after purchase because it is useful and unique. The strategy was to use analogous tools for comparison and guidance for internal components.







Kickstarting the ideation process by diverging and exploring design directions far and wide, and then converging and grounding concepts in reality.
The exploration took form through sketches, foam models, 3D PLA printing from digital models.
The winning design was established through a union of the ergonomics and chosen brand identity.









The journey to discover what the users wanted helped steer the initial direction.
In this stage the product is brought to life and placed in the context of its use to elevate the purpose. klar specifically speaks to users who want a single tool that can solve a lot of issues. klar tackles interchangable brush bits, motorized function for less mobility requirements for user, and the ability to clean the tool as easy as it is to use.


klar serves as a tool that helps people with dexterity issues. With its motorized function to help blend makeup and later clean off the product in a cleanser, there are less hand movements required by users and strain on wrists lessens.
The final form has a button on the bottom to activate the power tool motion
